Cray Lustre® Solutions – DataDirect Networks
Cray sells, integrates and supports DataDirect Networks (DDN) SFA block storage arrays for Big Data and HPC. Cray offers Lustre® solutions for DDN built on the Lustre File System by Cray. Utilizing the Lustre Client by Cray, solutions for DDN are supported on Cray supercomputers, Cray® CS400™ cluster supercomputers and x86 Linux clusters of any type. All Cray solutions utilize a standard, fully qualified Cray Lustre configuration.
DDN RAID subsystems use Lustre, which offers high performance scalable parallel I/O capabilities, POSIX semantics and scalable metadata access. The DDN SFA12K arrays are used as block storage devices for object data in either directly attached or externally attached Lustre file system configurations.
The SFA12K controller couplet uses dual rack-mounted (4U each) enclosures. Each SFA couplet is configured with either five or 10 drive enclosures. Choose from the 84-bay 4U enclosure or a 60-bay 4U with 3.5" drives or a 24 bay with 2.5" drives.
All controllers connect to the disk drives using 6Gb SAS backend disk channels. Drive capacities can be 450GB, 600GB or 900GB 10K or 15K rpm SAS or 1TB, 2TB, or 3TB 7.2K rpm near-line SAS. Cray also supports Lustre file system RAIDs based on the S2A6620 that will expand to 120 drives in 8U.
All storage systems arrive installed in DDN disk cabinets and come with worldwide power support and water-cooled door options.
