DDN Storage
Cray sells, integrates and supports DataDirect Networks (DDN) SFA10000, S2A9900 and S2A6620 RAID subsystems for block storage in high performance file systems that are connected to Cray XE6 and Cray XK6 supercomputers and other external servers.
File system RAID subsystems use the Lustre file system. Lustre offers high performance scalable parallel I/O capabilities, POSIX semantics, and scalable metadata access. DDN SFA10000 RAID subsystems can be used as block storage devices for object data in either directly attached or externally attached Lustre file system configurations. The DDN SFA10000 controller couplet uses dual rack mounted (4U each) enclosures with either 40Gb InfiniBand or 8Gb Fibre Channel host interfaces. Each SFA10000 couplet is configured with either 5 or 10 drive enclosures. The enclosures can be either 60-bay 4U with 3.5" drives or 24-bay 2.5" drives. All controllers connect to the disk drives using 6Gb SAS back-end disk channels. Drive capacities can be 450GB, 600GB or 900GB 10K or 15K rpm SAS or 1TB, 2TB or 3TB 7.2K rpm Near-Line SAS. Cray also supports Lustre file system RAIDs based on the S2A9900 and S2A6620 with 60-bay enclosures.
All DDN RAID subsystem enclosures are installed in DDN disk cabinets and come with worldwide power support and water-cooled door options.
