RoHS Certificate of Compliance

Product Design for Environmental Compliance

Cray Inc. is fully committed to complying with the European Union's Restrictions on the Use of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS) and other applicable substance restriction legislation worldwide.

RoHS restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).

RoHS took effect on July 1, 2006. All new Cray product lines shipped after July 1, 2006 are RoHS-compliant.

Moving forward, Cray is proactively implementing systems and practices to assure continued conformance to the EU's RoHS Directive and to similar legislation in geographies ranging from China to California.

Cray is also preparing for new Directives that will impact product design, e.g., the EU's Energy-Using Products (EuP) Directive and its Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) Directive.

To cite several examples of its overall product design activities, Cray:
  • Surveys its customers
  • Works with its supply chain partners to address existing and future product design requirements from both governments and customers
  • Solicits expert guidance to assure proper interpretation and implementation in regard to all applicable Directives
  • Takes a proactive approach to product environmental compliance and stewardship through its ongoing Design for Environment (DfE) efforts
