Information Collection and Use
Our primary goals in collecting Personally Identifiable Information (as defined below) are to provide you with an improved website experience, with the services made available through the Site and to effectively communicate with you.
In order to receive certain content or services, you may be asked to fill out a registration form and to submit certain Personally Identifiable Information (as defined below) to Cray. This may happen in a number of instances, such as when you sign up for our webinars or to receive white papers or other materials, or send inquiries regarding our products or services. Personally identifiable information collected in such instances may include your first and last name, email address, title, telephone number, your company’s name, products or services of interest, and other similar information (“Personally Identifiable Information” or “PII”). We will keep a record of such information, and may use your contact information to contact you in response to your inquiries, send you information regarding the Site and/or our products or services, or to handle and fulfill your requests for content or services from us, as applicable. If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive information or communications from us, you may opt out by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in any of our communications to you.
Cray may also process your PII for the following purposes, as permitted by applicable law:
- offering our newsletters, webinars and other content and providing our services, such as training, to you in a personalized way; for example, we may provide suggestions based on your previous searches or browsing of our Site to enable you to identify suitable content or services more quickly. This may also include, where legally permitted, processing information relating to your location;
- sending you personalized marketing communications;
- serving personalized advertising to your devices, based on your past searches and interactions with our Site and other data obtained through the use of “cookies” placed on your devices. For more information, please see our Cookies Notice below;
- developing and improving our products and services; for example, by reviewing visits to our Site and its various subpages, demand for specific goods and services and visitor comments;
- to assist you and/or respond to any inquiries, disputes or requests you make; and
- to comply with applicable law; for example, in response to a request from a court, law enforcement agency or regulatory body, where such request is made in accordance with the law.
The legal basis for us processing your PII for the purposes described above will typically be because you have provided us with your consent. However, we may also rely on other legal grounds, for example, where the processing is necessary:
- to fulfill a contract that we have in place with you;
- for Cray’s legitimate business interests; or
- for compliance with a legal obligation to which Cray is subject.
Please see below the types of cookies that Cray may use:
- Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the Site and use its features. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided. They are session cookies which are deleted when you close the browser.
- Performance cookies
These cookies collect information in an anonymous form about how visitors use our Site. They allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and help us understand which pages are the most popular and where visitors spend most of their time. These are persistent cookies which remain on your device until their expiration or earlier manual deletion.
- Functionality cookies
These cookies allow our Site to remember choices you make, such as your name, the region you are in or the pages you have viewed. They are used to provide enhanced and more personal features.
If you provide information to us on our Site, such as filling in your name to request a copy of a document, our Site may place a persistent cookie on your computer to help our Site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your PII, such as name. Persistent cookies will be kept on your device until their expiration or earlier manual deletion.
We may also use your IP address sent to us by your browser to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Site and to improve the service we offer to you. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on a network, or in this case, the internet. Your IP address might also be used to gather broad demographic information. We may perform IP lookups to determine which domain you are coming from to more accurately gauge our visitors’ demographics.
- Targeting or advertising cookies
These cookies allow us and our advertisers to deliver information more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They remember that you have visited our Site and may help us in compiling your profile. These are persistent cookies which will be kept on your device until their expiration or earlier manual deletion.
We may combine information from these types of cookies and technologies with information about you from any other source.
Visitor Consent to Place Cookies
We assume that you are comfortable with us placing cookies on your device. Most internet browsers automatically accept cookies. However, if you, or another user of your device, wish to withdraw your consent at any time, you have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying your browser setting. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of our Site and services.
