Cray and VBRX Workshop on High Performance Computing for
Upstream Applications in Oil and Gas
May 23, 2013 | Arena Copacabana Hotel
Av. Atlântica, nș 2064 | Copacabana - Rio de Janeiro
The oil and gas industry depends heavily on high performance computing to realize returns on its investments in drilling and production. Upstream scientific applications such as seismic imaging and reservoir simulation require enormous amounts of mission critical computing and storage resources. As with many other disciplines, the availability of massive amounts of data and the introduction new algorithmic approaches are placing even greater demands on HPC infrastructures.
A workshop is being organized by Cray Inc. and VBRX to bring together experts from the oil and gas community and other HPC domains to discuss current state-of-the-art approaches, challenges and opportunities. The full-day workshop will be held on May 23, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro at the Arena Copacabana Hotel.
Topics will include:
- Current state-of-the-art upstream oil and gas applications, including FWI
- HPC computing and storage technologies and roadmaps
- Application of accelerator technologies
- HPC Infrastructure challenges and experiences
