This Tuesday at SC17, we announced the recipient of our Supplier of the Year award. The honor goes to Altair, a testament to its continued collaboration with Cray — a relationship that goes back over 15 years — and its commitment to integrating PBS Professional®, Altair’s market-leading HPC software solution, with Cray supercomputers to optimize performance for compute-intensive environments. Altair is the first software provider to receive the award.
“We’re excited to honor Altair as an outstanding supplier,” said Cray CFO Brian Henry. “This award represents excellence in the supercomputing industry and Altair has demonstrated their commitment to providing leading solutions to the HPC industry.”
Altair’s PBS Professional is an industry-leading workload manager and job scheduler, and the flagship product within the PBS Works suite. The suite also includes PBS Access, an intuitive HPC portal for users to submit and monitor jobs, as well as PBS Control, a powerful command center for administrators to manage and optimize HPC resources. PBS Professional provides the power, flexibility, security, scalability, and reliability users need to manage their complex HPC infrastructures on-premise, in the cloud or in hybrid environments.
Our development team works closely with Altair to ensure PBS Professional supports the latest Cray innovations. We’ve worked together extensively to validate and certify PBS Professional on Cray’s unique architecture to ensure users have the most robust, stable, and highest-performing HPC solutions.
In early 2015, the Cray-Altair collaboration was elevated to an OEM relationship that allows us to easily and cost-effectively bundle PBS Professional as the preferred workload management solution for Cray supercomputers and clusters. Customers benefit from our ability to easily deliver unique, integrated technologies such as DataWarp™ I/O acceleration technology and application power management.
“Altair is honored to have been named 2017 Supplier of the Year by Cray. This recognition means a lot to us,” said Sam Mahalingam, Chief Technical Officer at Altair. “Collaborating with leading organizations like Cray helps us move the HPC industry forward by providing better solutions for end users.”
