Cray Inc. offers a limited number of internship positions targeted at the best and brightest students. These internships run during the summer months (3-4 months in duration) between academic sessions and will be located in one of our major US locations. This particular position will be located in our new office in Bloomington, MN.
The Cray Internship Program allows students to gain real-world work experience in their academic field. Cray interns will partner with some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the high performance computer industry who help our customers solve the most demanding and most crucial computing problems on the planet. Interns will engage in challenging projects evolving around future generation supercomputers, allowing them to stretch their skills and enrich their knowledge base to achieve a greater understanding of their area of interest, a better appreciation of their supercomputing industry, and hopefully, the desire to return as a professional member of the Cray team.
Cray’s Programming Environments team has openings for motivated and skilled students with interest in pursuing a career in software development. Responsibilities include designing, developing, troubleshooting, debuging, testing, and maintaining system software
, such as compilers, tools, debuggers, communication libraries, and scientific libraries.
· JOB LEVEL: Learns to use professional concepts. Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization. Is able to apply basic principles, theories and concepts learned to job situation. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
· JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of limited scope. Work assignments are limited in scope and complexity and require evaluation of technical data within defined procedure to make decisions and/or recommendations. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
· COMMUNICATION: Has moderate contact with supervisor or designed leader to report project/work status. Contact with others is primarily internal.
· SUPERVISION: Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Using established procedures and working under minimal supervision, performs assigned tasks.
Working towards a BS, MS, or Ph.D degree in CS, ECE, Applied Math, or equivalent experience.
Strong programming skills with working knowledge of C or C++.
This is a 12-14 week summer internship position that typically requires no previous professional experience.
